About this category
The Women Corporate Leader and Board Executive Award recognises a woman at board or executive level who is driving corporate strategy, governance and sustained performance. It celebrates leaders who steer organisations through growth and change, and who set the standard for how business should be run.
The winner will have made a clear, measurable difference at the top of her organisation, through strategic decisions, strong governance, and a culture that develops talent and opens the boardroom to the next generation of women leaders.
Eligibility
- Open to women serving as executive or non-executive directors, C-suite leaders or senior executives
- Organisations of any size and sector, including private, listed, public and third sector
- Must be based in, or have a significant presence in, the UK
- Self-nominations and third-party nominations are both welcome.
Judging criteria
- Strategic Leadership: setting direction and delivering long-term value
- Performance: measurable results for the organisation
- Governance: board effectiveness, risk oversight and ethical standards
- Transformation: leading change, growth or turnaround
- Talent and Inclusion: developing leaders and advancing women at senior level
Qualitative criteria
- Quality of strategic judgement
- Influence with boards, investors and stakeholders
- Culture and values set from the top
- Mentoring and sponsorship of future leaders
- Commitment to responsible business
Metrics
- Revenue, profit or shareholder value growth
- Delivery of strategic milestones
- Governance or audit outcomes
- Employee engagement and retention
- Gender balance at senior levels
Additional criteria
Entries should include a summary of the nominee's role and key decisions, supporting figures where they can be shared, and a testimonial from a board colleague, chair or senior stakeholder. Confidential information will be treated in confidence.
