About this category

Woman of the Year is the headline honour of the Working Women Awards. It celebrates one exceptional woman whose year has been defined by outstanding achievement, whether in business, her profession or her community. She has led from the front, delivered results that others talk about, and used her success to open doors for those around her. This is the award for the woman everyone in the room already knows deserves it.

Eligibility

  • Open to women-identifying individuals in any sector, role or organisation size
  • Employed, self-employed, founders, leaders and community figures are all eligible
  • Must be able to evidence significant achievement in the last 12 to 24 months

Judging criteria

  • Achievement: the scale and significance of what she has delivered this year
  • Leadership: how she has led, influenced or inspired people around her
  • Impact: measurable difference to her organisation, sector or community
  • Role model: how her example opens doors for other women

Qualitative criteria

  • Courage and conviction in the face of challenge
  • Integrity and generosity with her success
  • Ambition matched by delivery
  • Visible influence beyond her own role

Metrics

  • Business or career results achieved this year
  • Growth, revenue, funding or targets met or exceeded
  • People led, mentored or supported
  • Recognition, media coverage or industry profile
  • Community or charitable contribution

Additional criteria

  • One overall winner chosen from the strongest entries across the awards
  • Achievements should fall mainly within the last three years
