Women-Led New Business of the Year celebrates a women-led business in its early years that has made an outstanding start. It recognises a clear idea, a strong launch and early signs of success, from first customers and revenue to growing demand. Judges look for the potential to grow and the founder behind it.
Eligibility
- Open to women-led or women-founded businesses trading for less than three years
- Any sector, and any business model including online and home-based businesses
- Must be trading at the time of entry
Judging criteria
- The idea: a clear proposition and a real need it meets
- Launch: progress made since starting
- Early results: customers, revenue and feedback
- Potential: plans and capacity for growth
Qualitative criteria
- Entrepreneurial energy and drive
- Willingness to learn and adapt
- Strong understanding of customers
- Ambition backed by a realistic plan
Metrics
- Months trading and milestones reached
- Customers won and revenue to date
- Customer reviews or testimonials
- Funding, grants or support secured
Additional criteria
- The business must have started trading within the last three years
