About this category
Women-Led Employer of the Year recognises a women-led organisation that is a genuinely great place to work. It looks at how the business attracts, develops and keeps its people, how it supports flexible working, wellbeing and progression, and especially how it helps women thrive and lead. Judges look for policies that work in practice, backed by what employees themselves say.
Eligibility
- Open to women-led or women-owned businesses and organisations of any size
- Private, public and third-sector employers are eligible
- Must employ staff (beyond the founders) at the time of entry
Judging criteria
- Culture: values, engagement and how it feels to work there
- Development: training, progression and promotion of staff
- Flexibility and wellbeing: support for working parents, carers and wellbeing
- Inclusion: opportunities for women and under-represented groups
Qualitative criteria
- People-first leadership
- Fair and transparent practices
- Commitment to equal opportunity
- Listens to and acts on staff feedback
Metrics
- Staff retention and turnover rates
- Employee survey or satisfaction scores
- Training hours and internal promotions
- Gender balance at all levels
- Flexible working and family-friendly policies in use
Additional criteria
- Employee testimonials strengthen an entry
- Achievements should fall mainly within the last three years
